Mayors of Tehran, Kabul discuss joint action against COVID-19

The mayors of Tehran and Kabul discussed ways to broaden cooperation between the two municipalities and share experiences in the battle against the novel coronavirus, Tasnim News Agency reported.

In a video conference on Friday, Mayor of Tehran Pirooz Hanachi and Mayor of Kabul, Mohammad Daoud Sultanzoy discussed plans to promote cooperation between the capitals of the two countries in various fields.

Emphasizing the common cultural and religious values between the Iranian and Afghan peoples, Hanachi said, "The outbreak of the coronavirus has made it necessary for the cities to enhance the coordination in the fight against the disease."

For his part, Sultanzoy said the Kabul Municipality seeks to use experiences of Tehran to develop the urban structures and improve the relations between the peoples of Afghanistan and Iran.

He also invited the mayor of Tehran to travel to Kabul after containment of COVID-19 to hold meetings and exchange experiences.
