Official: Two-month exports from southern port reach two million tons

More than two million tons of non-oil products were exported from Iran’s largest port, Shahid Rajaee, in the first two months of the current Iranian year [March 20-May 20].

Director of the Shahid Rajaee Port Special Economic Zone Allahmorad Afifipour made the remarks in an interview with Fars News Agency, adding, “A total of 583 vessels were moored at the southern Iranian port during the 60-day period,” Mehr News Agency reported.

In this period of time, he said, 540,000 tons of goods were transshipped from Shahid Rajaee to other ports in the region, noting, “1.7 million tons of various types of oil products were exported from Shahid Rajaee Port, showing a 32-percent growth compared to the figure for the same period last year.”

Afifipour said in this period, 8.63 million tons of oil and non-oil products were transported at the port, putting at 4.18 million tons the total weight of non-oil products loaded and unloaded at the port.

In addition, 4.45 million tons of various types of oil products were loaded and unloaded at the port in the two-month time span, up 10.9 percent year-on-year, he noted.

Afifipour put the exact weight of non-oil exports from the port at 2.24 million tons.
