Rachel and Calvin Taylor were on their way home after getting married last weekend when they witnessed a crash, according to 7news.com.au.
“We saw a large SUV crash into another accident involving three other vehicles,” Calvin wrote on Facebook.
“As we pulled over, we saw people pulling a woman from between two cars with a gash in her leg that went down to her femur.”
Still in her wedding dress, Rachel, who recently graduated as a nurse, rushed out to help the woman while Calvin called emergency services.
Calvin said Rachel held the woman and calmed her for about 15 minutes until paramedics arrived at the scene and she was put on a stretcher.
“I am so blessed to have a wonderful wife who will always take care of people who need it, and we were blessed that we were able to be in the right place at the right time to make a difference,” he said.
“I am still blown away that she got out of the car in a scary situation to do what she does best.
“I can’t wait for a hospital to scoop her up so she can make a difference in people’s lives every day.
“I am so proud of my wife.”
Calvin and Rachel left for their honeymoon the next day, as the victim Tamara Peterson thanked the 22-year-old.
“She was awesome and helped save my life by keeping me focused, and calm,” Peterson told Mercury News.
“She certainly is a gifted angel and chose the right career path.”
