Iran-Austria economic commission to convene soon

Iran's new ambassador to Austria Abbas Baqerpour Ardakani and the deputy federal minister for digital and economic affairs of Austria agreed in a meeting on July 8 that the two countries’ Joint Economic Commission be held in the near future.

Stressing the need for promotion of economic ties between Tehran and Vienna, the two sides also decided to further strengthen the working groups formed based on a significant "Roadmap for Economic Relations", signed by Iranian and Austrian officials in 2016, to pursue implementation of the previously made agreements, IRNA reported.

Bagherpour Ardakani has started his term as Iran’s ambassador in Vienna since last week when he submitted a copy of his credentials to the Austrian President Alexander Van der Bellen in a ceremony held at the Austrian Presidential Palace.

He conveyed the friendship message of Iranian President Hassan Rouhani to his Austrian counterpart and full readiness of the Iranian government for the expansion of relations with Austria in all political, economic, cultural fields based on historical and long-standing relations between the two countries.

Bagherpour is currently the accredited ambassador of Iran to Slovakia as well.
