Iranian president congratulates Muslim states on Eid al-Adha

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in separate messages on Thursday congratulated leaders of Muslim states on Eid Al-Adha (Feast of the Sacrifice).

Rouhani hoped that leaders of the Islamic states will succeed to bring about growing unity and integrity in the Islamic world with their firm determination and joint efforts, and will control and eradicate the COVID-9 by taking appropriate measures, IRNA reported.

Eid al-Adha is the manifestation of submission to the command of God and His vast grace and mercy and the highest and purest degree of obedience and servitude to the Creator, he said.

President Rouhani also expressed hope that world’s Muslims, thanks to the blessings of the auspicious occasion of Eid al-Adha, and by relying on the lofty teachings of Islam, will walk on the path of affinity to God.

Eid al-Adha also called the ‘Eid Qorban’, is the second of two Islamic holidays celebrated worldwide each year (the other is the Eid al-Fitr).

It honors the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son, Ismael, as an act of obedience to God’s command. Before Abraham could sacrifice his son, God provided a lamb to sacrifice instead.
