Iran, Afghanistan discuss cultural cooperation

Expansion of cultural cooperation between Iran and Afghanistan was discussed in a meeting between the Iranian ambassador to Afghanistan and the director of the Rudaki Foundation.

During the meeting between Bahador Aminian and Mehdi Afzali, the international capacities of Rudaki Foundation in terms of cultural events in Afghanistan were emphasized, IRNA reported.

Referring to the cultural commonalities and the status of Iranian artists in Afghanistan, Aminian said Afghanistan has great capacity for cultural interactions between the two countries.

“There is a lot of potential for the presentation of artworks and performances by prominent Iranian artists, and this potential needs to be presented in the best possible way,” he said.

He added that Iranian artists have been highly welcomed by Afghan elites, art lovers and artists.

Afzali, referring to the great capacity of Rudaki Foundation, especially in the field of music, as well as its mission in expanding Persian language and literature, said that the foundation is ready to hold joint events, including cultural weeks.

He voiced his country’s readiness to hold joint cultural events with Afghan artists.

Regarding the foundation’s policy in terms of cooperation with Persian-speaking countries, Afzali added, “We should try to strengthen the relationship between these countries and defining joint events can help this process.”

The Rudaki Foundation has defined events in the preservation and development of the Persian language, which can lead to expanded cooperation between the Persian-speaking countries in the field of art and culture, he said.
