Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan said Iran’s mission has not received any official report from the Pakistani authorities regarding the seizure of an Iranian ship at Pakistan’s Karachi port.

Seyyed Mohammad-Ali Hosseini also said on Monday that even no Iranian official has confirmed a report recently published by a Pakistani newspaper claiming that an Iranian ship has been seized while trying to smuggle oil into Pakistan, IRNA reported.

He said that the Pakistani paper has reported the smuggling of Irans oil into Pakistan, a claim that its authenticity needs to be verified by experts.

His comments came days after Pakistani newspaper the Express Tribune cited Pakistani Senator Abdul Rehman Malik as claiming that an Iranian ship has been detained while trying to smuggle oil into Pakistan using forged documents.

Malik, who chairs the Pakistani Senates Standing Committee on Interior, said that it was an American watchdog that first informed Islamabad that it should take legal action against the Iranian ship, according to the Pakistani newspaper.
