Iran’s Health Ministry reported 2,113 new coronavirus cases in the country from Saturday to Sunday, bring the total number of the infected people to 358,905.

Of the new cases detected during the same period, 882 patients were admitted to the hospital, the Health Ministry spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said at a daily press conference, according to IRNA.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,841 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions, Lari noted.

At least 309,464 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.

The ministry also announced that 20,643 people have lost their lives so far, 164 of whom are health workers who are at the forefront of the battle against the coronavirus.

The ministry’s spokeswoman added that 141 coronavirus patients died from Saturday to Sunday.

Lari said that more than 3,036,700 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

Iran has been battling to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak since announcing its first cases on February 19.

Authorities have made wearing masks mandatory in enclosed spaces and reimposed restrictions lifted gradually since April.
