Health Ministry: Over 325,000 recover from coronavirus infection in Iran

The number of coronavirus positive cases that have recovered from the viral disease in Iran surpassed 325,000, the Health Ministry spokeswoman said.

Speaking at a daily press conference on Tuesday, Sima Sadat Lari said at least 325,124 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across the country, according to Tasnim News Agency.

She also put the death toll from the coronavirus in Iran at 21,672, saying the disease took the lives of 101 patients from Monday to Tuesday.

The number of people tested positive for COVID-19 infection in Iran rose to 376,894 following the detection of 1,682 new cases since Monday noon, the spokeswoman added.

Among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 3,709 patients have critical health conditions, Lari noted.

She added that more than 3,256,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

Iran’s government spokesman Ali Rabiei on Tuesday predicted that the outbreak of the coronavirus will worsen in the autumn, noting that, “We cannot shut down the country, but we should decrease things that do not affect the livelihood of the families".

Iran, the worst-hit country in the West Asia, has been battling to contain the novel coronavirus outbreak since announcing its first cases on February 19.
