Iran, Lebanon discuss expansion of cultural ties

In a meeting between Iranian Cultural Attaché to Lebanon Abbas Khamehyar and Caretaker Culture Minister in Beirut, Lebanon Abbas Mortada, the two sides highlighted the expansion of cultural cooperation.

In order to improve cultural relations, both sides agreed on having a joint artwork between Iran and Lebanon orchestras on the 2020 Beirut explosion, Mehr News Agency reported.

The Lebanese minister stressed the need to further strengthen cultural relations and commonalities between the two countries.

Regarding the introduction of Lebanon’s Prime Minister-designate Mustapha Adib and the formation of the new Lebanese government, Mortada said he is pleased to have been able to carry out some joint cultural activities with Iran during his tenure in this position.

However, the coronavirus pandemic and economic crisis slowed down these activities, Mortada added.

Iran’s cultural attaché also presented a report of the webinar meetings held recently and expressed appreciation for Mortada’s efforts to cooperate with Iran’s Cultural Center.

The cultural commonalities and an introduction of both countries’ archeological works were also discussed.
