Iran’s ‘Just 6.5’ awarded at Chungju festival in South Korea

The Iranian award-winning film, ‘Just 6.5,’ directed by Saeed Roustaee, won the Honorable Jury Mention at the second edition of the Chungju International Martial Arts and Action Film Festival in South Korea, held on October 22-26.

Starring Payman Mo’adi and Navid Mohammadzadeh, ‘Just 6.5’ is about a police group under the leadership of Samad, who has been assigned to arrest Nasser Khakzad, a major drug dealer in Tehran, ifilmtv.com reported.

Parinaz Izadyar, Houman Kiaee, Farhad Aslani, Marjan Qamari, and Mohammad-Ali Mohammadi are among the cast of the 134-minute film.

Premiered at the 37th Fajr Film Festival in Iran, ‘Just 6.5’ opened the 15th Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland, where it won the jury special mention.

It was also screened at the New Zealand International Film Festival; the Melbourne International Film Festival; the Jeonju International Film Festival in South Korea; the 27th Prague International Film Festival – Febiofest; Thessaloniki International Film Festival; and the 34th Annual Washington, D.C., International Film Festival.

The film was a big winner in several festivals including the 32nd Tokyo International Film Festival in November 2019, receiving the award for best director, while Mohammadzadeh was crowned best actor for his portrayal of the major Iranian drug dealer, Nasser Khakzad. It also won the Grand Prix at the ninth edition of the International Independent Film Festival of Bordeaux, France.

According to the official website of the festival, the South Korean event, which will be held under the slogan, “The Spirit of Martial Arts, Blossom into a Movie,” is the only film festival in Korea to be held in North Chungcheong Province, under the theme of a movie in the martial arts action genre.

It aims to promote Korean martial arts and actions to the world and to create a venue for promoting the world’s martial arts and actions.
