COVID-19 claims about 400 lives in Iran in 24 hours

Iran's Health Ministry announced the novel coronavirus has killed 399 more Iranians from Wednesday to Thursday, mounting the total death number to 34,113.

According to Spokeswoman of the Health Ministry Sima Sadat Lari, the country’s total coronavirus cases have risen to 596,941 following the detection of 8,293 new cases over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

At least 472,598 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, Lari added.

She added out of the total 8,293 new diagnosed cases in the past 24 hours, 2,924 patients have been hospitalized.

She noted among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 5,055 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection.

Lari further said that some 4,857,392 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out in Iran.

Iran has been announced the worst-hit country by coronavirus in the West Asia.

Iran has enforced tough restrictions in 43 cities since Monday due to worsening critical COVID-19 situation.

According to the spokeswoman of the Health Ministry, under the new scheme wearing face mask and observing social distancing have become mandatory and only half of the government employees should go to work in the capital Tehran, while the rest work online.
