Special Assistant to the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said that a special court was formed in the Iranian Judiciary from the first days after the US assassination of Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, and it pursued the case at the national and international levels.

Amir-Abdollahian said on Saturday that in the interrogation stage of the case, the court followed its complementary path in a few meetings with Iraqi judicial, political, and security officials to issue a strong verdict, Iran Press reported.

He stressed: “Certainly, on the eve of the anniversary [of Gen. Soleimani’s martyrdom], Iranian judiciary officials will issue an influential and very effective verdict against the perpetrators and spies in the case of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani.”

At the international level, he said, various actions have been taken by the Iranian Foreign Ministry, and various documents have been registered in the UN, he said.

The late commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), Lieutenant General Soleimani, who had traveled to Iraq on an official invitation of Iraqi officials, was killed by a US drone strike in Baghdad on January 3, 2020 along with the second-in-command of Iraq’s Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and eight companions on the direct order of US President Donald Trump.
