Iran seizes four Pakistani fishing vessels in southeastern waters

The commander of the Aquatic Resources Protection Unit of the General Department of Fisheries of Sistan and Baluchestan province, said on Saturday that four Pakistani fishing vessels trespassing Iran’s southeastern territorial waters were seized by Iran’s coastal patrols.

According to Najaf Safari, the seizure has taken place in the fishing port of Pasabandar in Dashtiari region by the patrol teams of Pasabandar base and the Naval Command in the protected area of Pasabandar base, IRNA reported.

They succeeded in identifying and seizing two fishing vessels and two fishing boats belonging to Pakistani nationals with more than 20 crew on board, Safari said.

He added that the vessels were seized and directed to the docks due to violating the Islamic Republic of Iran's border regulations and attempting to conduct unauthorized trawling in the Iranian waters and the Makran Sea.

The crew members on the vessels, who were citizens of Pakistan, were handed over to the judicial authorities for legal proceedings, Safari noted.

Pasabandar is the southernmost town of Iran located in Dashtiari region in the south of Sistan and Baluchestan province and on the coast of the Oman Sea (Makran).
