Alizadeh releases new album

Celebrated Iranian musician Hossein Alizadeh has released a new album titled 'Torbat'.

A virtuoso on the traditional Persian instrument 'tar', Alizadeh features improvisations in the album accompanied by Pejman Haddadi on 'tonbak'.

The pieces in the album are composed in 'segah' and 'rast-panjgah' music systems, and inspired by the indigenous music of Mashhad and Torbat Heidarieh in Khorasan Razavi province.

Alizadeh is an Iranian composer, radif-preserver, researcher and described by Allmusic as a leading Iranian classical composer and musician.

The artist recently refused to accept the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres Chevalier (Order of Arts and Letters), the highest decoration awarded by the French government. In an open letter, Alizadeh said that he does not need any decoration and added that his satisfaction stems from his good name.
