Bitcoin rallied to its highest levels since August ahead of celebrations for the Lunar New Year holiday throughout Asia, surging at the start of the weekend for a second straight time.
The largest cryptocurrency rose as much as 2.1% to $22,786, the highest level since Aug. 18. It also had strong gains over Friday and Saturday last weekend. Second-ranked Ether advanced as much as 2.4% to levels not seen since September.
G7 agrees to review level of price cap on Russian oil in March
REUTERS – Group of Seven officials have agreed to review the level of the price cap on exports of Russian oil in March, later than originally planned in order to give time to assess the market after more caps are placed on oil products from Russia, the U.S. Treasury said on Friday.
The G7 economies, the EU and Australia agreed on Dec. 5 to ban the use of Western-supplied maritime insurance, finance and brokering for sea-borne Russian oil priced above $60 per barrel as part of Western sanctions on Moscow for its “military operation” in Ukraine.
A fifth of new cars in California zero-emission in 2022: Data
AFP – One-in-five new cars sold in California in 2022 was a zero-emission vehicle, the state said Friday, as the largest car market in the U.S. charges towards its goal of electrifying its fleet.
Last year officials set ambitious targets for boosting the number of electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles on the roads, as they look to slash planet-warming gases produced by combustion engines.
