Francesco Rocha added that expansion of ties with Iran’s Red Crescent Society (IRCS) is the main objective of his visit to Iran, recalling that an agreement was signed between ItRC and IRCS during the visit of the former head of IRCS to Florence.
He said promotion of international rights and establishment of the school for volunteer nurses are among subjects of the agreement.
Rocha added that ItRC and IRCS have common concerns about confronting natural disasters, especially earthquake.
“The experiences of the two countries can be used to improve the quality of services provided to the victims of natural disasters and other accidents,” he said.
Speaking in a meeting with the deputy head of IRCS for health, treatment and rehabilitation affairs, Reza Raies-Karami, Rocha said ItRC offers various services in the field of health and treatment.
“The Italian Red Cross has provided training courses for 90,000 people in the field of ambulance services,” he said.
He added that ItRC aims to enhance its presence in the society and establish close relationships with people.
Rocha and his accompanying delegation visited various sections of IRCS's specialty and super-specialty rehabilitation, occupational therapy, isokinetic, water therapy and magnetic therapy centers.
