Head of the organization, Nasser Charkhsaz further said Iran is a disaster-prone country which has experienced over 30 natural disasters and mishaps.
He added that the number of rescue copters have increased to 22. Currently, 500 rescue and relief stations are operating in the mountains, coasts and roads, he noted.
He put the number of IRCS voluntary forces nationwide at 55,000.
Rapid action teams have been formed in the provinces and cities to raise the efficiency of rescue efforts, he said. Even training courses have been held for the staff, he said.
IRCS is among the top five relief organizations in the world.
Extensive humanitarian activities undertaken by IRCS have made it an exemplary member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).
IRCS, which has modern equipment, is the largest relief organization in Iran.
Although Iran joined IFRC in 1924, huge efforts made by philanthropic members of the organization, especially the youth, volunteers and aid workers, have led to significant progress in the IRCS.
