Iranian director Dormishian selected for Warsaw festival jury

Iranian filmmaker Reza Dormishian has been selected to serve on the panel of jury at the 32nd Warsaw Film Festival which is scheduled to take place from October 7 to 16 in Warsaw.

Dormishian will accompany Iza Igel (Polish producer) and Rafael Palacio Illingworth (American director) on the festival's jury, ISNA reported.

Dormishian was born in 1981 in Tehran. He studied English Language and in 1997 began writing as a film critic for several newspapers. He later worked as an executive editor for cinema books and magazines. He was an assistant to some prestigious Iranian filmmakers, including Dariush Mehrjui and Alireza Davoudnejad. He also worked as a screenwriter. He started making short films and documentaries in 2002. His first feature film 'Hatred' is produced entirely in Istanbul.

In 2009 the Warsaw Film Festival joined the elite group of events recognized by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (www.fiapf.org) as international film festivals — next to Cannes, Venice, Berlin, Locarno, San Sebastian, Karlovy Vary, Tokyo, Moscow, Mar del Plata, Montreal, Shanghai, Cairo, Goa and Tallinn.
