Four Dhaka awards go to Iranian films

Iranian films and movie-makers received four prizes of the 18th Dhaka International Film Festival which was held in Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh from January 12-20.

The festival's Best Actress Award in the competition sector of 'Asia Cinema' was jointly given to Parinaz Izadyar and Mina Sadati for their role in 'Searing Summer' which was directed by Ebrahim Irajzad, wrote.

'White Bridge', directed by Ali Qavitan, took the Best Children Film Badal Rahman Award while Arash Yazdani grabbed prize for the Best Short Fiction Award for his 17-minute film 'Still Yet'.

The Best Cinematography Award in 'Asia Cinema' sector went to Masoud Salami for his film 'Asphyxia' which was directed by Fereydoun Jayrani.

A total of 28 films from Iran was screened at the biennial event in Bangladesh.

Filmmaker Mohsen Amir-Yousefi served on the festival's panel of jury. He was in the panel which presided over the Asian Film Competition, along with Indian filmmaker Girish Kasaravalli; American actor and producer Gary Springer; and Age Hoffart, a Norwegian distributor of feature films.
