Iranian weightlifter ranks second in 17th Asian Games

Incheon, South Korea, Sept 24, IRNA – Iranian weightlifter Kianoush Rostami, won the bronze medal in the men's 85-kg weight class at Incheon Asian Games on Wednesday.

With a total 380 kg, Kianoush Rostami finished second following Tian Tao from China with an Asian Games record total of 381.

On his first attempt in the clean and jerk, Rostami failed at 166 kg, but on his second and third attempts, he managed to lift 166 kg and 172 kg respectively.

Olympic Games bronze medalist also made a snatch of 208 kg on his first attempt. However, he failed to lift 212 kg in his second and third attempts aimed at setting a new record at the Asian Games.

Meanwhile, Iranian athlete Rasoul Taqian, finished fourth in the same weight category.
