Oil prices not affected by New York talks: Zanganeh

Tehran, Sept 25, IRNA – Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Thursday that the ongoing talks in New York between Iranian officials and world leaders would not affect oil prices.

"There is enough rationalism on oil market to prevent any disturbance due to New York talks," Zanganeh told reporters on the sidelines of an international exhibition here.

President Rouhani is currently in New York along with a number of senior officials including Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif to attend the 69th session of the UN General Assembly.

On the sidelines of the event, Iranian officials hold bilateral meetings with their counterparts from other countries.

Zanganeh said in order to avoid occurance of instability on oil market, the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) should maintain its balance, Zanganeh stressed.

He rejected necessity of holding an emergency meeting by OPEC.
