Mining projects worth over $3.6b to be implemented by March

Mines and mining industry projects valued at over $3.6 billion will be implemented by March 20, 2019, announced an official from Iran's Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

Somayeh Kholousi, who is the director of IMIDRO's Planning and Strategic Supervision Department, said the projects include, Makran Steel Complex in Chabahar, the second development phase of Zarshooran gold mine in West Azerbaijan Province, the equipping of Tabas Parvadeh 4 Coal Mine Project, Persian Gulf Alumina Project, the revitalization of Kurdestan Steel Project, Mobarakeh Steel Company and the development of Hormozgan Steel Company.

Kholousi said improving the status of mines and mining industries sector, creating jobs, communicating with local communities and, developing skills are among the challenges facing the sector.
