Qatari officials visit Iran pavilion at book fair

Iran's pavilion at the Doha International Book Fair hosted the Qatari Minister of Culture and Sports Salah bin Ghanem al-Ali and the Speaker of the Shura Council of the State of Qatar Ahmed Bin Abdullah Bin Zaid Al-Mahmoud at the invitation of Iran's Deputy Culture Minister Mohsen Javadi.

The Qatari officials commended the organizers of the event for inviting Iranian publishers to the exhibition this year, according to IRNA.

Javadi, who was present in the event as Iran's special guest, became familiar with the process of publishing books in the Persian Gulf state.

Iran's Cultural Attaché Reza Shahrivar said that Qataris who had earlier visited Iran's International Book Fair hoped that bilateral ties will continue to grow.

A total of 427 publications from Qatar and 30 countries are being presented in the exhibition this year, according to Qatari Ministry of Culture and Sports.

The theme of this year's fair is 'Doha, A City of Knowledge and Conscience'. There is a total of 791 stalls offering around 101,992 titles in Arabic and 17,261 titles in other foreign languages.

Russia is the guest of honor at the fair within the framework of the Qatar-Russia Year of Culture 2018. The Russian stall will organize a number of lectures, shows and workshops.

Spain and the Kyrgyz Republic are participating in the event for the first time this year.

The 29th edition of the fair will be held for 10 days at the Center for International Exhibitions of Qatar from November 29.
