Iran condemns Philippines terror attack

The Islamic Republic of Iran’s Foreign Ministry condemned a terrorist bomb attack on a military camp in south of the Philippines that killed and wounded several soldiers on Friday.

In a statement on Monday, Foreign Ministry spokesman Seyyed Abbas Mousavi condemned the deadly attack on Filipino troops that was claimed by the Daesh terrorist group, Tasnim News Agency reported.

The Iranian diplomat also expressed sympathy with the government and people of the Philippines, particularly with the families of victims of the attack.

Three soldiers were killed and 12 wounded in two bomb explosions at the army camp in Indanan town in Sulu Province, 1,000 kilometers south of Manila.

The attack was carried out by two suicide bombers who were killed in the blast.

The camp was the headquarters of the army's 1st Brigade Combat Team, which was recently deployed to Sulu for war on the Abu Sayyaf terrorist group.

The Abu Sayyaf is believed to be allied with the Daesh terrorist group and has been blamed for some of the worst terrorist attacks in the Philippines.
