Iranian books on display at Doha International Book Fair

Hundreds of Iranian books are on display at the 30th edition of the Doha International Book Fair.

Iran’s Cultural Fairs Institute (ICFI) is showcasing 400 book titles in various fields including religion, literature, and children and youth.

As many as 335 publishing houses from 31 countries are participating in the exhibition.

Introducing Iran’s publishing industry, supporting translation, and inviting foreign publishers to attend the Tehran International Book Fair are among the purposes of Iran’s presence at the Qatari exhibition, IRNA reported.

In addition, the Chairperson of the Consultative Assembly of Qatar Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud also paid a visit at the helm of a delegation of officials.

Ahmad bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud met the head of Iran’s Research Center of Culture, Art and Communications, Mohammad Solgi, Iran’s Ambassador to Qatar Mohammad-Ali Sobhani, Iran’s Cultural Attaché to Qatar Reza Shahrivar, and an advisor to ICFI Ahmad Shakeri.

This new edition comes to reinforce the importance of raising societal awareness and giving science its central role in defining human behavior, motivate thinking abilities, enlighten minds and augment contributions based on respecting the diversity between various cultures.

The fair has France as an honorary guest of the exhibition as part of the Qatar-France 2020 Year of Culture.

The fair that continues until January 18 features cultural programs, seminars, cultural evenings, lectures, workshops and book signing sessions as well as children’s activities.
