Iran’s three-month iron ore concentrate output exceeds 11.9m tons

Domestic Economy Desk Iran produced 11.913 million tons of iron ore concentrate during the first three months of the current Iranian year (March 20–June 20), according to statistics released by Iranian Mines and Mining Industries Development and Renovation Organization (IMIDRO).

The country’s major mineral production companies managed to produce 12.156 million tons of iron ore concentrate in the same period last year, IRNA reported.

According to the IMIDRO report, in the mentioned period, 3.847 million tons of iron ore concentrate were produced by Golgohar Mining and Industrial Company, which had the lion’s share in the country’s output.

Based on the data, 3.955 million tons of iron ore concentrate were also produced during May 21- June 20 to register a four percent decline as compared to last year’s corresponding figure.

The iron ore reserves of Golgohar in Kerman, in south-central Iran, are one of the world’s largest, yielding up to five million tons per year.
