Iran, Portugal launch joint post-doctoral studies

The Persian Gulf University of Iran and the Polytechnic Institute of Viana do Castelo of Portugal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to initiate joint post-doctoral studies aiming to develop international cooperation, Managing Director of the Persian Gulf University for international affairs said on July 28.

Arash Khosravi said that the document was signed by chancellor of Persian Gulf University Abdolmajid Mosleh and his counterpart at the Portuguese university Carlos Rodrigues, IRNA reported.

He added, the MoU was signed after the Iranian university and the European Union held talks with Polytechnic Institute of Viana Do Castelo for developing international cooperation.

Based on the MoU, the two sides agreed to work together in the fields of research and higher education; conduct scientific events and training courses; and share their knowledge in the field of scientific activities.

The academic cooperation will at the first phase begin with studies on smart cities, Khosravi said.

Persian Gulf University is a university in Bushehr Province of Iran. Established in 1991 as Bushehr University, the university has seven faculties, offering 24 bachelor's degrees, and 33 master's degrees and three PhD degrees.
