United’s move for Sancho edges closer as Dortmund agrees initial fee

Jadon Sancho’s anticipated move to Manchester United has moved closer, as Borussia Dortmund is willing to agree on an initial fee.

The Independent has been told that all talks regarding the deal are still between intermediaries, and that there are no formal negotiations between the clubs yet, but the principles of a deal have been set out.

Dortmund will accept an initial £60 million, for a package that ultimately rises to over £100 million, although there is still a distance regarding the pay plan thereafter and how much that will be.

The German club is at this point willing to sell, and is almost pushing the deal, as it has planned for Sancho’s departure and wants its 2020-21 squad intact by the time it returns to training on August 10.

As such, Dortmund does not want a long-running “saga”, so is willing to compromise.

No other club is currently in for Sancho for this summer, despite long-term interest from Liverpool and Real Madrid.

The England international is United’s major summer target, although it is also looking at a center forward, a midfielder and – if sales and budget permit – a center-half.
