A family who traveled for more than six hours to a popular beach were fuming after being turned away by police.

A man and his four children drove all the way from Birmingham to Durdle Door in Dorset, England, only to be told the beach was full and roads were closed, mirror.co.uk reported.

Officers informed the family the beach was too busy before sending them for a six-and-a-half hour drive back home.

Brits have flocked to beaches last weekend as temperatures soared to more than 30°C in some areas.

Weymouth and Bournemouth were two of the hardest-hit beaches, with photos from beachside webcams in both places showing the seafronts getting busier and busier throughout the day.

Some beaches in the region had to be closed off to the public at points throughout as overcrowding became a very real concern, with Durdle Door one of the beaches ultimately becoming a no-go zone.
