Iran’s ‘The Crab’ to compete at Canadian festival

Iranian animation ‘The Crab’ is slated to compete at the 2020 edition of the Ottawa International Animation Festival (OIAF) in Canada.

The annual five-day event has extended its date this year and will hold screening and talks online from September 23 to October 4, reported.

Directed by Shiva Sadeq-Asadi, ‘The Crab’, was produced by Iran’s Institute for Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults.

The short animation tells the story of a shy schoolboy who is interested in performing in a play with his school’s theater troupe. But the only part offered to him is to play the role of a crab, reported.

The animation has competed at several international festivals, including the Countryside Animafest Cyprus film festival, the Shanghai International Film Festival in China, and the Hiroshima International Animation Festival in Japan.

Established in 1976, the OIAF is known as one of the world’s leading animation festivals. It provides screenings, exhibits, workshops, and entertainment.
