Iran confirms 5,471 new COVID-19 cases in 24 hours

Iran's Health Ministry announced the country’s total coronavirus cases have risen to 550,757 following the detection of 5,471 new cases from Wednesday to Thursday.

According to Spokeswoman of the Health Ministry Sima Sadat Lari, the novel coronavirus has killed 304 more Iranians over the past 24 hours, mounting the total death number to 31,650, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.

At least 442,674 patients have recovered from the coronavirus infection so far or have been discharged from hospitals across Iran, Lari added.

She added out of the total 5,471 new diagnosed cases in the past 24 hours, 2,242 patients have been hospitalized.

She noted among those undergoing treatment in medical centers at present, 4,895 coronavirus patients have critical health conditions because of more severe infection.

Lari further said that some 4,628,866 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out in Iran.
