Iran’s ‘The Badger’ honored with US Austin’s prize

The Iranian feature film, ‘The Badger,’ won the best narrative film award at the 27th edition of the Austin Film Festival in Texas, held October 22-29.

Kazem Mollaee’s feature was nominated for the best narrative film award and the audience award at this year’s edition of the American Academy Award qualifying film event, IRNA reported.

Starring Vishka Asayesh, the film is the story of a 40-year-old woman who is facing a difficult challenge in her private life at a time close to her second marriage.

In addition to Asayesh, the film’s cast includes Hassan Majouni, Mehraveh Sharifinia, Behnoush Bakhtiyari, Reza Behboudi and Gohar Kheirandish.

‘The Badger’ has already been screened at a number of global events including the Shanghai International Film Festival in China.

The Austin Film Festival is an arena for young and talented writers and filmmakers.
