2021 Fajr Film Festival may be postponed

The 39th edition of the Fajr Film Festival (FFF) in Iran may be postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mohammad Mehdi Tabatabaei-Nejad, the secretary of the 39th edition of the event, told the media that the festival may be held in the spring of 2021, ifilmtv.com reported.

He noted, “No definite decision has been made so far, but we will try our best to launch it on time. However, there’s the possibility of launching the festival a few months later, concurrent with the international version of the event.”

The FFF coincides with the ceremonies marking the anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Since its establishment in 1982, the FFF has played a vital role in the development of Iranian Cinema.

Supervised by Iran’s Ministry of Culture, the festival hosts veteran directors and new filmmakers from Iran every year.
