During the visit, Zarif was briefed on the progresses made in the production of various vaccines, especially the COVID-19 vaccine, IRNA reported.
The directors of the Cuban Ministry of Health and Center of BioPharma Cuba also briefed Zarif on the process of producing different types of vaccines and the cooperation between the center and the Pasteur Institute of Iran.
The Iranian foreign minister arrived in Havana from Caracas, Venezuela, as part of his three-nation tour to Latin America that will later take him to Bolivia where he is to attend the inauguration ceremony of the country’s president-elect Luis Arce.
While in Venezuela, Zarif held separate talks with President Nicolas Maduro and Vice-President Delcy Rodriguez and other ministers “on expansion of bilateral ties”.
He also attended a conference in Caracas, along with his Venezuelan counterpart, Jorge Arreaza. The forum entitled "Venezuela and Iran in Defense of the Emerging Modern World", was held at Samuel Robinson Institute.
