Iran Volleyball Federation suspended all competitions, citing “a third wave of the coronavirus” in the country.
The Health Ministry on Monday reported 13,053 new cases of COVID-19 infections for the past 24 hours with the death toll rising by a daily record of 486.
President Hassan Rouhani had said on Saturday that stricter restrictions will be imposed in the capital Tehran and some 100 other towns and cities from November 21.
The Iranian federation said all men’s and women’s league games will be provisionally postponed from Saturday.
The second round of the Iranian Volleyball Super League games was to get underway on November 25, with the preliminary of the women’s Super League scheduled for a Nov. 19 kickoff.
The men’s second-tier league matches – currently taking place in Mashhad and Ardabil – will be concluded on Friday.
