Saeed Khatibzadeh said Tehran is mulling Zarif's trip to Armenia and it is probable that he meets his newly appointed Armenian counterpart and other senior Armenian officials in Yerevan, in the near future, Mehr News Agency (MNA) reported.
He added, regional issues and the expansion of cooperation between the two countries would be discussed in Zarif's visit to Armenia.
The Iranian foreign minister is scheduled to travel to Russia and Azerbaijan on Monday and Tuesday to discuss a range of issues, especially the Nagorno-Karabakh dispute.
Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday that Zarif will meet his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov during his visit to Moscow.
She said that both diplomats are expected to discuss the 2015 Iran nuclear agreement, latest developments in the Persian Gulf region and issues related to Syria and Afghanistan.
The Russian official added that they will also talk about joint plans in energy, transportation, and expansion of cultural relations.
The Iranian foreign minister also plans to visit Baku to hold talks with Azerbaijani officials.
However, Khatibzadeh explained that it is not clear yet if Zarif's trip to Armenia will follow up his trip to Moscow or not.
