Haniyeh further offered his condolences to the Iranian people and government over Fakhrizadeh martyrdom, IRNA reported.
Fakhrizadeh, who served as the head of Research and Innovation Organization of the Iranian Defense Ministry, was assassinated after being seriously wounded when assailants targeted his car and engaged in a gunfight with his bodyguards outside the capital Tehran on Friday.
The scientist succumbed to injuries after medics failed to revive him, said a statement by Iran’s Defense Ministry.
Friday’s attack happened in Absard, a town just east of the capital Tehran.
