International condemnation continued to pour in over the recent assassination of Iranian scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh.

Belgium’s Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmes in a phone conversation with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif on Wednesday condemned the assassination of Iranian scientist, according to the Foreign Ministry’s official website.

Also on Wednesday, Sri Lanka’s Foreign Ministry and Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister Zakir Hasanov condemned the terrorist attack, IRNA reported.

Fakhrizadeh, head of Defensive Innovation and Research of the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization, was targeted by terrorists with suspected links to Israel in a multi-pronged terrorist attack in a small city near Tehran on Friday.

On Tuesday, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell described the assassination as a “criminal” act.

“This (the assassination) was a criminal act … I am sorry to say but this is not the way you are solving problems,” Borrell said at an online debate with his predecessors, Federica Mogherini and Javier Solana, dubbed “The EU in a changing world”, Press TV wrote.

In recent days, many countries have condemned the assassination of the Iranian scientist.

Iran’s Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday all neighboring states and Persian Gulf countries but one have condemned the assassination of leading nuclear scientist.

Iranian government officials and military commanders have hinted that the Israeli regime was behind the terror attack, vowing harsh revenge against all the criminals involved.

An informed source told Press TV on Monday that the remains of the weapon used in the Friday assassination show that it was made in Israel, adding that the weapon collected from the site of the terrorist act bears the logo and specifications of the Israeli military industry.
