The daily death toll from the coronavirus in Iran followed its decreasing trend in the 24-hour period to Wednesday to stand at 213, the Health Ministry said.
Speaking at a daily press conference, spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari put at 52,883 Iran’s total death toll from COVID-19 since the beginning of the pandemic in the country in late February, Tasnim News Agency reported.
She said the total number of the infections in Iran has reached 1,131,077 following the detection of 7,603 new cases in the same 24-hour time span.
Of the new cases, 1,157 patients have been hospitalized, Lari added.
At least 844,430 COVID-19 patients have either recovered or been discharged from hospitals across Iran, the spokeswoman said.
Among those currently undergoing treatment in medical centers, 5,678 patients are in critical conditions, Lari noted.
She said more than 6,846,000 coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.
The number of people infected with COVID-19 across the world has surpassed 74 million with the death toll exceeding 1,640,000.
