The value of loans granted by domestic banks during the first eight months of the current calendar year (March 20-November 20) surpassed $40 billion, said the governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI).
Abdolnaser Hemmati added of this figure, 30 percent have been given to the domestic industrial sector, IRNA reported.
He stressed that close to 59 percent of the facilities have been offered in the form of working capital loans.
Iranian banks granted loans valued at almost $39 billion to different economic sectors in the previous calendar year, which ended on March 19. The figure indicated a 26 percent growth year-on-year.
Of this figure, $21.04 billion (54 percent) were given in the form of working capital loans, showing a 21.8 percent increase compared to that of the same period of the preceding year.
