Iranian-Chinese animation ‘The Gools’ to be screened in China

A joint animation project between Iran and China, ‘The Gools,’ received a screening permit in China and soon will hit the Chinese silver screens.

Directed by Iranian animator, Farzad Dalvand, and known by the title, ‘Kung Fu Gools’ in China, the animation is planned to be screened in Chinese movie theaters until August 2021, reported.

The animation is a free adaptation of the Iranian tale, ‘Shangoul and Mangoul’.

The synopsis for the animation reads: “Three goats start an adventure for establishing and keeping peace among animals.”

The Chinese director of the animation who was mostly responsible for localization of the work, Wang said, “Cooperation with the Iranian team was really interesting. The Iranian screenplay attracted my attention and I decided to work with the Iranian team. I hope the Chinese audience welcomes the animation.”

Jin Yang, the producer, expects the animation to sell more than $21 million in China.

The animation also received the screening permit in the US and will go on screen there until February 2021.
