Iran has asked the international police organization to issue a Red Notice for 48 Americans, including the US president, for their roles in the assassination of Iran’s top General Qassem Soleimani.

During a press conference on Tuesday, Iran’s Judiciary spokesman Gholamhossein Esmaeili said that Iran has requested the Interpol to arrest US President Donald Trump and 47 other American officials who played a role in the assassination of late commander of the Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Lieutenant General Soleimani, according to IRNA.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran is very seriously following up on pursuing and punishing those who ordered and executed this crime,” he told reporters.

Soleimani and his companions, including top Iraqi counter-terrorism official Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, were assassinated in a US drone strike while General Soleimani was on an official visit to the Iraqi capital on January 3, 2020.

The strike, which was directly ordered by US President Donald Trump, triggered a strong anti-American backlash across the region, leading to growing calls for the US military to end its presence in West Asia.
