Iran, Russia review situation in Middle East, Persian Gulf

Iran's Ambassador in Moscow Kazem Jalali and Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and Special Envoy of the Russian President for the Middle East and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov on Tuesday exchanged views on major developments of the Middle East region, the Persian Gulf in particular.

According to a statement by the Russian foreign ministry, the two senior diplomats also discussed developments in Yemen, Syria, and Lebanon, IRNA reported.

No further details have been released about the meeting.

Russia has been closely watching the strategic region’s security and stability. Two years ago, Moscow proposed a plan for providing security in the sensitive region of the Middle East.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on December 5, 2020, expressed concern over the ongoing situation in the Middle East region arguing that the conditions in the Middle East are severely worrying.
