Iran's latest daily COVID-19 death toll hits 83

The daily deaths from the coronavirus pandemic reached 83 in Iran from Thursday to Friday increasing the total national death toll to 56,621, Iran's Health Ministry spokeswoman said.

According to Sima Sadar Lari, the total number of people testing positive for the respiratory disease reached 1,318,295 detecting 6,485 new cases over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

Lari added that out of the total 6,485 new positive cases, 631 patients have been hospitalized.

She added, out of the total infected cases, 1,107,011 patients have either recovered or been discharged so far from hospitals nationwide.

Lari further underlined that 4,415 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions and under treatment in intensive care units of the hospitals.

She said over 8.42 million coronavirus diagnostic tests have been carried out in Iran so far.

Since its outbreak, the COVID-19 pandemic has killed over 1,980,000 people across the world.
