“The damage Trump has done to humankind is not enough for its extremists,” Mohammad Javad Zarif wrote in a post on his Twitter account.
He added, “In its last disgraceful days, designating Houthis to worsen humanitarian nightmare & warmongering lies against Iran by Pompeo show utter contempt for peace.
“The planet will be better off without them.”
Zarif made the remarks commenting on a series of the last minute moves made by the lame-duck US president administration’s most forward Iran hawk Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, who has recently said that Washington plans to designate the Ansarullah of Yemen as a foreign terrorist organization.
He added, unless the US Congress blocks the decision, Ansarullah will be blacklisted on January 19 – one day before the inauguration of President-elect Joe Biden.
Earlier, the US secretary of state claimed, without any evidence, that Iran has become “new home base” for the Al-Qaeda terrorist group. Iranian officials have blasted the US’s groundless accusations as a means of its trying to obscure its own role in creation and continued existence of such groups.
In another development, Pompeo brought Cuba back to the US’s list of “Terrorism Sponsors” while during the term of Trump’s predecessor Barack Obama, the island was down the path of rapprochement with US.
Zarif has reacted to his US counterparts warmongering moves on Wednesday by saying Pompeo is marking the twilight of his already “disastrous” career with a pathetic end by resorting to more baseless warmongering lies about Iran and other countries.
“From designating Cuba to fictitious Iran 'declassifications' and AQ (Al-Qaeda) claims, Mr. 'we lie, cheat, steal' is pathetically ending his disastrous career with more warmongering lies,” Zarif wrote on his Twitter account.
Trump’s administration is facing a scandalous situation in the last days of his stay at the White House as he is the only US president who is to be impeached twice during his term in office.
According to US media, in 230 years, the House of Representatives voted for the president to be impeached just twice. Trump is charged with inciting an insurrection since as president, he tried to cling to power by overturning an election that he had unambiguously lost.
