Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Saeed Khatibzadeh said on Saturday that an official warning note was issued and submitted to the United States through Swiss Embassy which serves as the US Interest Section in the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mehr News Agency reported.
“In the warning note, Tehran has warned Washington that if it does not cease its illegal actions against Iranian diplomats at the US-based international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Iran will lodge a complaint against it with the ICJ,” Khatibzadeh said.
The US government has long been creating serious problems for the Iranian diplomats at the US-based international organizations and their families, Khatibzadeh said adding, the move is in violation of the international law in a way that such hostile actions have disrupted activities of the Iranian diplomats and their counterparts from other countries.
The spokesman added, despite its obligations as the host country of several international organizations, the US government has never been a "proper host," and has consistently harassed diplomats, their families, and children coming from countries it has problems with.
