COVID-19 claims 93 lives in Iran over 24 hours

The coronavirus pandemic caused 93 more deaths in Iran from Wednesday to Thursday, mounting the total national death toll to 57,150, Iran's Health Ministry spokeswoman said.

According to Sima Sadar Lari, the total number of people testing positive for the respiratory disease reached 1,348,520 detecting 6,204 new cases over the past 24 hours, IRNA reported.

Lari added that out of the total 6,204 new positive cases, 677 patients have been hospitalized.

She added, out of the total infected cases, 1,144,549 patients have either recovered or been discharged so far from hospitals nationwide.

Lari further underlined that 4,164 COVID-19 patients are in critical conditions and under treatment in intensive care units of the hospitals.

She said 10 cities, all in Mazandaran Province in northern Iran, are in the “red zone” while 23 others are recognized as “orange zone” and locate all in the three northern provinces of Gilan, mazandaran and Golestan.
