Official: 10-month exports from northwestern province fetched over $890m

Value of exports from the northwestern Iranian province of East Azarbaijan reached $893 million during March 20, 2020-January 19, 2021, said the director-general of Tabriz Customs Administration.  

Leili Orangi added goods produced in the province are exported to 105 countries, IRNA reported.

She listed main export destinations as Iraq, Turkey, Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Orangi said, "East Azarbaijan’s customs office, with an average annual overseas sales of 1.8 million tons of goods worth $900 million, is one of the most important export gateways of the country.”

She added with an average annual exports of 750,000 tons of products valued at $490 million, the provincial capital of Tabriz accounts for 53 percent of the total yearly overseas sales from the province.

The official listed export items during the 10-month period to January 2021 as mineral fuels, mineral oils, plastic materials and products, cast iron, steel, fruits and cereal products.

She said exports in this time span indicated declines of 20 percent and 13 percent in terms of weight and value respectively, compared to the figures for the previous year.

Orangi added the province imports products from 66 countries, including Turkey, Germany and China.
