Iran’s neighbors congratulate 42nd anniversary of Islamic Revolution

Iran’s neighbors have offered congratulatory messages on the 42nd anniversary of the victory of the Islamic Revolution sending separate messages to senior Iranian authorities on Wednesday.

Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev congratulated his Iranian counterpart President Hassan Rouhani, on behalf of the Azerbaijani people saying that Tehran-Baku relations “have developed in an upward trend significantly” over the past years, Press TV wrote.

“The numerous reciprocal trips, signed documents, joint projects, including the successful activity of the Joint Commission of the two countries of Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan, play an important role in expanding our relations,” he added.

“I believe that amicable relations between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, which are based on mutual respect and good neighborliness, will be developed in accordance with the interests of our countries and will help strengthen stability and security in the South Caucasus,” said the Azeri leader.

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev also sent a message to President Rouhani, voicing the readiness of his government to expand bilateral relations with Tehran.

Mirziyoyev pointed to the historical and cultural links and traditional friendship between his country and Iran as the firm foundations of the relationship between the two nations.

In a separate message to Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov congratulated Iran on the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon also congratulated his Iranian counterpart on the Revolution’s anniversary, wishing prosperity, health, success, and peace for the Iranian people.

President Rahmon expressed his country’s willingness to boost relations with Tehran.

He said he believed that the cordial ties, rooted in historical and cultural commonalities, between Dushanbe and Tehran would further develop in the future.

Also, the United Arab Emirates (UAE)’s President Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a congratulatory message to President Rouhani.

So did Emirati Vice-President, Prime Minister, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In Turkey, the exterior facade of Atakule Tower in the capital, Ankara, was illuminated in the colors of Iran’s flag on Tuesday to celebrate the occasion.

Iranians celebrate the victory of the Islamic Revolution each year on the 22nd of the month of Bahman on the Iranian calendar that fell on February 10 this year.

Unlike previous years, Iranians marked the victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution on Wednesday on a different way due to the COVID-19 pandemic. People participated in the national ceremonies driving their cars, motorcycles and bicycles to respect social distancing and health protocols to avoid spread of the deadly virus.
